Sinendet Tea Multi-purpose Co-operative Society Ltd (Sinendet) is a group of men and women who organized themselves into a co-operative society, for the purpose of promoting their economic welfare.These are people of modest means who are mainly from the present Kericho, Bomet,Nakuru and Narok Counties. Initially, the group registered Kericho RuralMulti-purpose Co-operative Society Ltd (KRMCS) on 26th October, 1989 vide CS/ 5796 as a holding Society, with the intention of registering subsidiary Societies, Sinendet being one of them. Sinendet was therefore subsequently registered on 13th September, 2002 as one of these subsidiaries.

Sinendet is the recognised leader of the local co-operative movement and the longest-established tea co-operative in Kericho and Bomet Counties, Kenya. We were founded in 2002. We were instrumental in establishing Mau Tea Multi-purpose Co-operative Society (‘MTMC’) in 2002 and subsequently Kipsigis Highlands Multi-purpose Co-operative Society (‘KHMC’) in 2010. We remain substantial shareholders in both entities (33% and 12.5% respectively). We are governed by a Board of Directors who represent diverse interests in the local community.
